Member Talks

At each of our meetings, one faculty member gives a 15-20 minute presentation on their current research. These talks are meant to highlight unpublished work and questions/comments are encouraged to foster collaboration.  


Workshops

K99/R00 Grant Writing Workshop

In the first of its kind, BARI partnered with the Buck Institute for Research on Aging to host a K99/R00 Grant Writing Workshop for junior investigators. At the workshop, trainees learned tips and tricks to writing this type of grant from past awardees, mentors, and scientific review officers.  

Using Generative AI in Academic Research 

Co-hosted with Bakar ImmunoX Initiative and Benioff Center for Microbiome Medicine. Lectures included topics such as responsible use of AI, generative and analytic AI available at UCSF, and using AI writing tools in your scientific writing process. This event also included hands-on workshops for researchers. 

Biological Resources for Aging Research at the NIA Division of Aging Biology  

Program officers from the National Institute on Aging gave an overview of all the free resources the NIA has to offer researchers in the aging field. 


Symposia

Our inaugural BARI symposium was held on November 13th, 2023. The symposium featured three invited speakers, trainee talks, and a poster session all within the de Young Museum in beautiful Golden Gate Park.
